We continued our French experience by visiting the coastal town of Dunkirk.

The Allies Memorial stood at a prominent place along the boulevard.

It commemorates the pilots, sailors and soldiers of the French and Allied armies who sacrificed themselves in the Battle of Dunkerque in May and June 1940.

We continued our historic route to Dieppe, where many Canadians lost their lives on August 19, 1942, during WWII.

Homeschooling in the open air. It was such a peaceful beach... Hard to imagine what it must have been like 80 years ago.

Dieppe was a lovely place, with a nice vibe in the small city centre.

Along the boulevard, memorials remind the French (and tourists) every day of the battles fought here.

The Canadian War Cemetery was impressive. 944 members of the Allied Armed Forces are interred at Dieppe, of which 707 are Canadian.

Lest we forget
