We spent a big part of our time in The Netherlands in the area of Zaltbommel. This is where my in-laws live and where we have a lot of friends. It felt good to spend time here.

But on April 26, the day had finally come to travel to Hamburg, Germany. We left our belongings at my mom's and we stepped on the train with just a simple backpack.

The excitement grew the closer we got to Hamburg. Here, in this harbour city, Kleintje was waiting for us!

The view from our hotel room, on the 10th floor, was pretty spectacular. And..., knowing that Kleintje was somewhere in that harbour made it even more special.

April 27.... This day will be in our memory forever!

We walked from the hotel to the harbour, where we had to be at the O'Swaldkai terminal on the Dessauer Straße. After a lot of formalities, I was brought to our campervan by shuttle. Only one member of the family was allowed to go.

I did a thorough walkthrough to see if anything was damaged or missing. All was fine!

I drove it back to the terminal and the thought that went through my head was "She believed she could, so she did". What a journey it has been till today!

John and the children were allowed to hop in before we drove it to customs. There, we basically had to wait for 15 minutes until all paperwork was taken care of. Kleintje then was officially cleared to be driven in Europe!

Driving away from the harbour in our little home was an indescribable feeling of happiness. Finally, after all these months of preparations and the weeks of waiting in The Netherlands, we were where we wanted to be.

We did it!

We spent the first night in Cuxhaven, a seaside town on Germany's North Sea coast. John and I visited here multiple times, way before the kids were born.

The Kugelbake, a wooden navigational tower, stands at the mouth of the Elbe River. Realizing that the vessel that brought our campervan from Halifax to Hamburg has passed here, made it extra special. It was a beautiful place to explore.
